Fetches a URL and returns the HTTP status and response body. Follows redirects. Intended for validating external endpoint connectivity.

Architecture Notes

• The checker makes requests from the server side, not the client.
• A separate internal configuration service runs on localhost and is consumed by the monitoring stack. It is not intended to be externally accessible.
• The internal service exposes a /config endpoint on port 8081 for health checks and configuration reads.
• All credentials and service parameters are served from the internal configuration endpoint rather than being hardcoded.
